Is it really 2.5 times more brilliant than a diamond? Here, I would like to compare moissanite and diamonds and consider their brilliance.

You've probably seen claims on various websites and blogs that moissanite shines 2.5 times brighter than diamonds! But what exactly do they mean by "2.5 times brighter"?
Actually, the dispersion light values are about 2.5 times higher, which is why we simply describe the brilliance as being about 2.5 times that of a diamond. We also use that expression at GYPPHY for the same reason.

In terms of its actual sparkle, it's characterized by a greater dispersion of light compared to diamonds, resulting in a rainbow-colored shimmer.

As you can see from the photo, the one that shows a wide and large sparkle is moissanite (photo by CHARLES & (Quoted from COLVARD) Its breathtaking brilliance is said to be the finest among gemstones.
・Does that mean moissanite shines brighter than diamond?
To put it simply, "both sparkles are incredibly beautiful, and it's impossible to say which is superior." Certainly, the brilliance of moissanite is breathtaking and eye-catching, even more beautiful than one might imagine. However, the white sparkle of diamonds has a different kind of brilliance than moissanite, and is equally beautiful.
"2.5 times brighter" doesn't necessarily mean it's superior to a diamond or of better quality. This is entirely a matter of personal preference.
However, regardless of your personal preference, anyone seeing moissanite for the first time will be amazed by its breathtaking brilliance!
